NiMH Battery vs. NiCd battery and battery chargers
Let’s talk about the NiMH battery in detail. Using rechargeable batteries today is an excellent way of saving energy and fighting environment pollution. Nevertheless these batteries come in various sizes and types, so do their chargers. Most chargers are either made for a NiMH Battery or a NiCd or maybe both.
Most of the chargers have a definite time of charging ranging from two hours to maybe twenty hours. The time taken for charging normally varies depending on the size of the battery. For example an AAA battery will get charged in less time than a “D” or “C” sized battery. Most of the NiMH Battery chargers have lights that turn on indicating the time when the battery gets charged, and some even come with the feature of the LED light getting off automatically once the charge is done. At an average almost all the chargers have option to plug them directly to the wall outlet using an inbuilt power chord or come with an AC adapter.
Although there are a lot of types of rechargeable batteries available in market, the most used ones are still the NiCd and NiMH Battery types. Both of them offer certain advantages. The NiCd variants are normally a lot less costly compared to the NiMH ones.
These NiCd batteries as well are used in various old electronic appliances such as an old cordless-telephone that are unable to accept newer battery versions. If we consider the other way round, these batteries are preferred to be used in many modern gadgets like the digital camera.
